Shido has the ability to control and communicate with animals. Madoka is a very talented violinist. Shido was hired by Madoka's rival to steal her Stradivarius violin. That's how they first met. After that adventure, Madoka invited Shido (and his animal companions) to live in her mansion. They have been living together ever since.
Shido would do anything to protect Madoka, even willing to sacrifice his life. He flusters a lot around her. He also cannot say no to her requests. Madoka offers him the human companionship that he needs. She makes him feel content with himself. She also makes him sort out the garbage. :P
